The health plans differ in terms of flexibility. While some health plans would put a restriction on the physicians that you have to opt for your treatment, some others will put a restriction on the payment of the bills. Some plans will require you to spend a certain amount on the medical bills from your own pocket before you are eligible for the health plan benefit. This amount is called the "deductible amount" and this differs from one plan to another.

It is best to make enquiries on all the kinds of plans available. Even among each of the categories, there are different schemes and it important for us to be aware of them before we make our choice. It is a good practice to seek help from the medical officer in the organization before deciding on the health plan. We can discuss all the benefits that we expect from our health plan and also compare different plans to know their pros and cons.

Even the regular physicians can help us in this front. We can approach one of them and seek their advice based on our requirements. Health plans are what we consider as our support system when we fall sick and hence we must spend optimal time before we finally decide on one.
