Auto Insurance Accident Compensation How to get It
A car accident is just that; an accident. You cannot plan ahead for one so it is important that you have the proper automotive insurance for when it does occur. Depending on who is at fault in the accident, which will be determined directly by the responding officer unless it is contested; will determine whose insurance company will pay for the damages. However, this is not always the case because if you have full-coverage comprehensive auto insurance, your insurance company will get you back on the road even if you are at fault.
Many people though, are wondering exactly how to collect the money from the claim. The good news is that it is not as hard as one would think. Not withstanding a personal injury claim, damage to a vehicle can be rectified quite quickly. You will need to file a claim report and if at all possible, take as many pictures as possible of your vehicle and the accident site as soon as the crash occurs. This will help to speed up the process because when you make the claims adjusterandrsquo;s life easier, they will make yours easier.
After you have filed the auto insurance claim, within a short period of time the claims adjuster will contact you to take a closer look at the vehicle. They will check out every single detail of the car and even take some more photographs. Assuming the car is not totaled out; they will also require you to get some repair quotes to compare with the adjusterandrsquo;s report. If everything matches then in most cases you will be sent a check in the mail. However, in the case that the adjuster has determined to total out the car, it can take a while longer to receive compensation.
In most cases, you will have the option of buying the car back. I know this sounds strange, but if the adjuster totals the car out, this means the car will go to the impound even if it is still drivable. It is totaled because the cost of repairs is greater then the value of the car. To save it from being impounded, you can pay a fee. This is a different amount depending on the insurer and will be deducted from the total you will receive; but you get to keep the car and most of the money.
The time frame from which you have the accident to which you receive compensation from the auto insurance company will vary from one insurer to the next. It also will depend on the costs associated with the accident too. Some people may see compensation in as little as 72 hours for some of the bigger name companies, whereas for the smaller online companies, it can take up a month in some cases.
