Real Christmas Trees for a Real Christmas Feeling
Choosing a Christmas tree for your family home comes down to personal preference and the kind of Christmas you want to have. There are so many pretty and impressive real Christmas trees to choose from it can be a difficult choice for anyone, you can narrow the field down a bit by taking various factors into consideration.
First you need to measure up the size of the area or the room where you are intending the tree to go, then you have to think about the needles of each type of tree, for example are they sharp or soft and do they shed easily? If you have small children in the house then these can affect your decision. Some trees give out a really strong pine smell whilst others are more subtle. Measure the height of the room and the width it can occupy before placing an order as a wild guess will only disappoint.
The price of the tree is dependant upon the size so take care to choose one that isn’t too big or it might end up going outside! Christmas Trees all have their own unique characteristics. Some are wider at the base, whilst others have a more elegant slender shape, smells and colours vary, and needles differ. It is definitely worth doing some research before making a purchase.
There are a few kinds of Christmas trees that are grown in the south west of Scotland. The Fraser Fir Christmas tree is becoming increasingly popular in the UK as it is known for its dense appearance and low needle drop. Its needles are short and soft to touch and so it is suitable for households with small children who might be tempted to touch the tree, and with its green and blue coloured underside it makes an attractive feature in any home.
The Fraser Fir Christmas tree also has a slim width so doesn’t take up a lot of space, perfect for a small room or an apartment. It is an elegant and classy tree with an exclusive citrus aroma that will make every home the envy of your neighbours. The height of a Fraser Fir can range from 4 ft to nearly 10 ft high. The most popular real Christmas tree in the UK is the Nordman Fir, a firm favourite with households all over the country. This tree is also a low needle drop, perfect for the Christmas period when cleaning up is the last thing you want to be doing. Its branches are strong and it has a symmetrical shape with long needles, thus making it very attractive when it is decorated and lit up. This type of tree is also suitable for family homes as it is soft to touch.
The Nordman Fir Christmas tree is wider at the base than the Fraser Fir and so the room you intend to place it in would need to be big enough to show it off to its best effect. A Nordman can be as small as 4 ft or over 12 ft high.
The Norway Spruce is the traditional British Christmas tree, a good choice for most people and reasonably priced. It has a full shape at the base making it perfect for stacking up those colourfully wrapped gifts underneath, and strong layered branches to hold plenty of pretty little ornaments. It is ideal for outdoor use or placed in an outer area, such as the entrance hall, as it will retain more moisture.
The Spruce is more liable to shed needles than the other varieties which is one of the reasons it is preferable as an outside choice. Its needles are short, thin and prickly to touch, which can cause a mild skin irritation so this type of tree is less popular with families who have young children. The heights available for this type of tree range from 4 ft to over 12 ft high.
