An aquarium can add beauty to the house

Some people have the habit of gardening whereas some like to keep pets for example, cat, dog, etc. These all are their hobby, it is something that is not essential yet helps in some way. Another type of pet that many people keep at home is fish, usually in an aquarium fish tank. It enhances the beauty of the home. It can be treated as a decoration in the house.

Keeping fish at home, may add to the beauty of the house but it also takes some of your efforts for maintenance. Before you choose your aquarium fish tank, it is important to choose the right size of the tank. It depends on how much time you would be able to spend over its maintenance later. Usually if you are a very busy person, you can choose the smaller one because you will have to spend less time for its upholding.

If you are a person with lots of time in hand then you can buy a bigger aquarium fish tank. Another factor that would determine the size of the aquarium is the availability of fresh water. If you do not have enough supply of water then it is better to choose a smaller tank because it will take hold less amount of water in it. Keeping a big aquarium fish tank, half filled with water does not look nice. If the tank is filled well then it becomes pleasant to look at.

After you have chosen an aquarium of the right size, other equipments for the tank are required. Filter and stones demand the position of greatest importance after the glass tank. For a tank of dimensions, 24x12x18 inches (height= 18 inches), 6 kg of stone is required. Filter with two cylinders is enough, and must be attached to a motor of 5W for pumping air. It helps in keeping the water in the tank clean. The solid particles are sent below the stones, when the pump is on due to the vigorous motion of the water created by the air.

Now the most important thing is the fishes. You can keep any type of fish in your aquarium. There are two categories you can choose from, the fresh water ones and the seawater. For these two types of fishes, you need to set up the aquarium differently. In marine aquarium, you need to add plenty of salt and decorate with corals and pearl type stones. For fresh water aquariums, you add very little salt and may keep water plants in it.

Goldfish is the most common and nice looking fish for fresh water aquarium. Molly is another type that is cheap and small and can be added in your aquarium. Keeping small fishes of one type is good from two points. They do not harm each other and it looks great when they move in a shoal.
