Are you one of those folks who feel that their whole lifestyle needs to be changed entirely to have any impact on the environment? Unfortunately, this misguided belief that minor changes don't count leads, all too often, to doing precisely zero. This is such a mistake, as even several small things is better than nothing. Listen to the experts, who can give you some tips that will for sure make a difference.People love their cars, but if they could all just take a break from them for a certain amount of time every week, what a difference it would make. Studies found that individuals hop in their cars approximately 2000 times each year for round trips of less than 2 miles. That figures to more than 5 every day. How many of these trips are unneeded, or could be done by walking, or riding a bike. Think about how much toxic emissions could be done away with by reducing these trips. If you are not able to walk or ride a bike, carpooling at times would be a huge help. Consider 7 people riding together in a van compared to 7 people driving 7 cars to accomplish the same things; what a reduction in pollution we would enjoy. Or how about 40 men and women being in a city bus instead of using 40 vehicles? Plainly, the more single drivers we can get off the roads, the greater the reduction in toxic fuel emissions. To a Martian, America's top pastime would appear to be squandering fuel and energy. Individuals like to sit in the cars with the engine running, which is an obvious waste of fuel, and causes them to breathe in unhealthy amounts of toxic emission fumes. When you are waiting for someone, you really should turn off the car. If you are going to be sitting in traffic for at least ten seconds, turn off your car. Have you noticed the amount of pollution being given off when you are in a traffic jam? The next cold morning when you start your auto, let the drive warm it up, instead of leaving it to idle. Or, how about getting some exercise the next time you go to a drive through by parking your auto and buying your food inside? There are lots of small ways to save on gas while you drive your car. And we haven't even brought up just taking it easier with the accelerator. The more slowly you drive, the less fuel per mile you use. Regular maintenance of your auto's engine is good, too - you'll enjoy better gasoline mileage and overall efficiency. Regular oil and air filter changes will help your vehicle run better and efficiently, also. Also, if your tires are under inflated it can have a surprisingly big effect on your fuel consumption rate.Apparently, there are many ways to save fuel. Not one of these things are tough to do, and they are all part of green living. There is nothing complex or difficult about living a greener lifestyle.
