Alternative training is designed so that students do not need to earn another master's degree to become registered as a drama therapist. Along with alternative training comes a flexible schedule that is designed to meet the needs of students with busy lifestyles. Aspiring drama therapists will be supervised by a highly qualified trained therapist.

To be considered a professional that is recognized by the United States as a drama therapist, you will need to undergo a registration process. A registration credential requires over a thousand hours of working as a drama therapist. Theatre experience is also required, so drama therapists will need to earn 500 hours of experience.
