For a teacher who is just starting out, the choice between practicing in a private or public school can be life-changing. The differences are so dramatic so the right choice should be made. Making a difference to students can be a reality or just a dream depending on the choice the teacher makes. There are four main reasons why a teacher should consider teaching in a private school. They include: thin management structure, small class size, small schools, and ideal teaching conditions. The four reasons are elaborated below. Private schools have their own administrative rules to follow. They are not part of an administrative group that alters their methods of teaching. This removes the thought of having to go through different things in order to get an issue straightened out. Because of the considerable difference in the size of population, everything is more manageable. Not only in the number of students, but in the number of co-teachers and other administrators that they have to work with every single day. Toronto independent schools have the advantage of smaller class sizes. This greatly helps a teacher become effective in his craft. A teacher s main objective is to share knowledge to let the students learn. In a public school where the number of students can range from 30-40, managing the students becomes the main course of their job rather than to teach. In a private school, teachers are assigned 10-12 students which are obviously more manageable. A teacher can now concentrate on giving the student knowledge while able to concentrate on each student as needed. Teaching in a Toronto private school also means having more chances to personally connect with students. It typically has 300-400 students. At the most they can carry around 1000 students. That is considerably low compared to 2000-4000 students in a public school. This gives the teachers a chance to personally know the students and attach themselves, knowing that some students learn better when they know they can communicate freely. A public school teacher is bound by certain curriculum that is set by the people in charge. The public school teacher does not have any means of teaching except for the one that is expected. For private school teachers, it gives them the chance to show off their skill in their most productive ways. Having the capabilities to do all these, they can instill the lessons in their students more effectively.
