Clocking in is a process that has occurred piratically since the start of business and that has entered our public lexicon as a result. However while it's been around for many years, it has also changed considerably over time and that has adapted like many other things to fit our digital age.Fingerprint clocks are one example of this new kind of clocking in. What a finger print clock is is essentially a time clock, but one that does not use a swipe card or any other form of ID. Instead what it uses is the employee's own fingerprints so that they simply need to scan their fingers into the device in order for it to register that individual as coming in. Fingerprints are a form of 'biometric data' and this means that they can't be copied or faked and are completely individual to that person. At the same time, as though this wasn't enough, they are also something that are always on us. In other words if you clock in with a swipe card, then there is always the risk that you are going to mislay the card and that you as such wouldn't be able to swipe in – whereas with fingerprint scanners you know you will always have it to hand... literally. So does this improve workforce management and organisation? Well in a word... yes – and there are many ways in which having a finger print clock can make your business run more efficiently and be more profitable.First of all it means that you have a precise time that your staff clocked in and that means that you will pay them correctly – they won't be short changed and nor will they drain your company's resources by being paid for hours they weren't there. Of course this is the intention with any employee clock-in system, however it is unfortunately not always the reality. Sad though it is, some colleagues will always try to trick the system by getting their friends to clock them – but with a fingerprint clock this just isn't possible and it means that everyone gets paid fairly and that the wool can't be pulled over your eyes.As mentioned it also means that the cards can't be lost – which means you can't lose the records on your entire staff roster in one foul swoop – pretty crucial. As it's all digital it also means that you can easily log in and update, tally and manipulate the data to make changes in the light of new information, or to provide the staff with evidence of their pay. It can even be e-mailed this way to other departments etc or printed off. And the fact that it doesn't need to be double checked or added up manually means that no one needs to spend large amounts of time tallying when they could be put to better use elsewhere. On top of all these practical benefits though, a fingerprint clock just feels modern and up-to-date and as a result of this it makes a much better impression on your visitors and makes your staff feel like they're working for the company of tomorrow.
