A few days ago, I was reading some online newspaper interview that had nothing to do with technology, apart from a phrase that really got trapped inside my head since then. I won't quote it, I will just say that, according to the guy interviewed in that article, technology is supposed to help us save time, yet it does the opposite, consuming a large part of our lives. Even more, he said that social networks are supposed to bring people together, yet there are more and more alone people going online and trying to be somebody else. Now, we just reached our subject - SoftBuy, one hell of a site that brings people together under the same banner, the one saying "Cheap software that's not supposed to be that cheap," of course! The idea is a very simple one - more people purchasing the same product get discounts starting at a certain number of licenses sold, so the theory is the same as it happens with volume discounts you can get when purchasing various programs straight from their producers. On the other hand, it's obvious that most people can't find 20 friends or so that are interested to purchase the program they need, so this is where cheap software brings people together, despite the fact the site is still pretty fresh on the market and it doesn't have any social networking features, except those deal sharing capabilities most sites seem to have these days. How does this work? It's really easy - all you have to do is take a look at the current deal, decide if it's worth the price, then place your order. Since some prices are even 10 times smaller than the regular ones, there's no doubt that you'll get the deals of your life, trust me! If you pay and the minimum amount of purchases required to get the deal is not reached, you'll get your money back. No need to worry about the payments part, it uses PayPal, so I guess most people on this planet should be happy with that, right? Leaving all the above aside, I must say that cheap software... no, cheap quality software is a great way of bringing people together and I really think that SoftBuy can get the job done in a wonderful way by adding social networking to its features. Sure, that may not help lonely people escape their loneliness, but it would surely bring together a lot of computer users looking for the same thing, and that's what strong communities on the Web are all about these days - having the same hobbies/interests and sharing useful info with those like you, not simply joining a network where a serious amount of this world's Internet users hang out from time to time and spam it with irrelevant content. So considering that, I must conclude by saying that SoftBuy is a great source of cheap quality software that should (and MUST!) have a bright future. I am not saying that you should jump up and get the current offer before it expires, since you may not need the program currently for sale, but you should definitely bookmark it and/or subscribe to the RSS Feed, it will surely have the cheap quality software you're looking for available one day or another! ;)
