Even though desktops and laptops can accomplish the same tasks these days, there has been a shift lately and a larger demand for laptops over desktops. In today's fast paced business world, many people are required to take their work with them on the road and a laptop makes that much easier. Desktops may be a bit cheaper, but this demand for portability of work has likely driven the increased market share of laptops, not to mention the convenience they offer.

The uses of a laptop computer are many and never seem to stop increasing. Whether for academic purposes, business endeavors, or personal uses, the characteristics are proven useful and even rewarding on many occasions. Built for easy access, a laptop computer, being portable and relatively light weight, is ideal for carrying on your person, storing in your office, and/or working from home.

Compared to a regular desktop computer, which uses various pieces of equipment, a laptop comes equipped with the necessary components to function as well as, and even better than, a desktop. It's no wonder they have become so popular.

One of the most recent additions to the laptop computer world is the netbook. The same relationship that exists between a desktop and a laptop also exists between a laptop and a netbook. Netbooks are a subset of laptops that are designed to do a lot of the most popular things that people use a computer for today.

Netbooks or subnotebooks are much lighter than a laptop and have a substantially longer battery life. Their compact features allow you to carry them around in a purse, briefcase, or backpack and store them away in desk drawers where they won't be in the way. They may not be as powerful as a regular laptop, but there are extremely convenient.

Laptop computers and all versions, sub or otherwise, are desirable not only due to their size and features, but also because of the extensive variety available to choose from. Varying in price and type, a laptop computer is sold all over the world, and continues to be in high demand. With most programs and software designed for technology, laptop computers provide a work space, and even a personal system to control and organize several aspects of your life.

Laptops are being used in colleges, businesses, and even by serious gamers. These computers have worked their way into our everyday lives. Granted, you can do fine in life without a laptop computer, but there's a good chance you can always do better.
