Cisco Equipment Helps Advance Medical Care
If you're looking for reliable networking capabilities, look to the Cisco equipment that medical facilities trust with their patients. The national health care reform has sparked a need for an evolution in medical networking. The government is hoping to better connect hospitals, insurers, and patients with advanced networking systems. In February, six billion dollars were approved in a stimulus package aimed at telehealth initiatives alone. In response to this overwhelming need, a project system has been created to acknowledge and satisfy the growing medical needs of the nation. andquot;Medical costs are growing almost out of control,andquot; says John Chambers, CEO of Cisco. andquot;So those organizations that can find a way to contain medical costs and provide a higher level of service are going to have a huge advantage.andquot;
Connected Care will be a new way of connecting physicians, patients and health providers. The project is an extensive effort to create a national telemedicine network aimed at serving rural, difficult-to-access and under-served patient populations. Connected Care projects will make clinics available in the workplace, rural and retail locations. In-home visits will also be possible by using similar technology to bring better care to the patient.
The program is being built around an open network that will integrate multiple technologies with Electronic Health Records and other IT platforms. The program will allow real-time consultations and communication between nurses, doctors and health professionals across the network, creating a more connected system of health care.
The Connected Care program will allow small clinics in retail outlets, pharmacies, retail clinics and workplaces, to provide greater convenience to patients. These clinics will be staffed with a medical attendant who will operate the tele-medical equipment and present patients to remote physicians. The project is also hoping to provide mobile clinics.
Cisco equipment will be the principal technologies to enable Connected Care to create an experience remarkably similar to in-person doctor's visits with the help of video, audio and medical record technologies. Cisco's industry-leading video conferencing and other collaborative network technologies will help connect patients more easily to primary care physicians, specialists and hospitals. Connected Care, via Cisco equipment, will make clinics available in the workplace, as well as in rural and retail locations. In-home visits using similar technology and Cisco equipment will also be provided to bring full, complete and thorough care to every patient.
Cisco equipment makes it possible for the routing of caregiver communications, and Cisco network security technology ensures that remote communications between patients and caregiver staff is safe and secure. Cisco is the world leader in networking equipment and technology that transform how people connect, communicate and collaborate. Cisco equipment is helping to revolutionize the way the world takes care of itself. If you're looking for reliable networking capabilities, look to the Cisco memory and equipment that medical facilities trust with their patients.
