How To Profit From A Home-based House Cleaning Business

Making money and profiting from your own cleaning business is easier than you think. Don't know how to start? Lets read through this article to start with the basics of setting up your own home cleaning business.
Home cleaning is becoming an exceptionally popular service today. Why? Because more and more people's lifestyles have changed. In general people are much busier than what they were a few years ago and people are seeking help from services to help them out with house-hold chores.
You have to decide if you want some of this action now - while the demand is huge and still growing. Starting your own house cleaning business has never been at a better time than today.
Below are the main points you need to know to start-up as an Independent Cleaner.
Choosing a Name For Your Business:
Identifying a name for your business is very important. This gives you an identity and is also needed for advertising purposes. Look through your local Yellow Pages to give you an idea of names in the house cleaning section. Don't copy any name, but think of something similar along those lines.
Having a business name forms an identity for your business. If you are serious about making a profit and an income from this, then you need to take your little business seriously and it all starts with a name.
Choose Your Territory andamp; Customers:
Knowing who you want to target and where they live is one of the first steps you need to take. Remember, if you have your own transport then you will be able to get around faster and do more cleans per day. If you need to rely on public transport to get from A to B then this will reduce your cleans significantly. Don't forget to take this into account when taking on new clients.
Finding customers who live near you should be a priority if you don't have your own transport. If this is the case, then you need to find out if these people have surplus money to pay for a cleaning service?
To summarise this, you really need to know if your target customers can afford you. Secondly, you need to know if there will be enough customers who live close to one-another. In an ideal world you should try and find as many customers as you can within a short range of each other. This will cut down your travelling time dramatically.
Set-Up Costs:
As an Independent Cleaner, there is very little you need to buy to start your own business. Most Independent Cleaners tend to use the cleaning products and equipment of their customers. So you won't need to buy any cleaning products. This is the main reason why you will make a healthy profit!
Below you will find an outline of what you may want to spend a little money on:
o Advertising
o Travelling costs
Setting a price structure is your next step. My advice would be to call your competitors, found in your Yellow Pages. Pretend you are an enquirer and ask what they charge.
Now that you have this information, you are in a position to set an hourly rate which is in-line with your competition. The bottom line is up to you if you want to charge the same, higher or lower than your competitors.
Let everyone know about your new service. Target your target customer and put flyers through their mailbox. This is by far the quickest and cheapest method of advertising. You want to put hundreds of these flyers out.
To make your flyer, have it typed up in a word document either by you or someone else. The idea is two have two versions of your flyer on one page. Print them off and take to your local library or printers to get them padded out hundreds of times - or as much as you can afford.
Post hundreds of flyers out through prospective mailboxes. This will keep you fit and really doesn't take that long. A surprise telephone message might be waiting for you when you get back home!
If your budget allows, it is worth putting an ad in your local Yellow Pages. If not next year will do.
Now that you have a full client list of your own you might consider hiring some help. This is just the start of things, you could end up hiring dozens of cleaners and put your own feet up!
All you need to do is advertise in a local newspaper. When you have chosen someone who you like, simply take them with you on your cleans and they will soon pick up your cleaning routines and methods.
Gain new customers and let your newly trained cleaner take on those extra clients!
Once you are totally confident with managing cleaning staff there is no reason why you can't hire more cleaners.
