There is no doubt that self storage facilities provide great services to people who need extra storing space. People need extra storing space to put away things they have accumulated over time. They look out for facilities to store various belongings that clutter their living space. People tend to purchase various items, such as pieces of furniture, crockery, cutlery, and items of decoration. Before they realize it, their living space becomes congested, and they need to look around for extra storing spaces.

In addition, many people downsize to smaller homes in these times of economic difficulties. They find that their possessions cannot be accommodated in their smaller homes and look around for storing facilities. Also, when renovating their homes, people need to move their household furnishings to a storing facility while their home is being remodeled. When relocating to another home, they need the services provided by the self storage facilities while their house is being readied.

There are storing units available in different sizes. Some are as small as 5 x 5 while there are others as large as 10 x 20 in size and even larger, if required. These are small enough to take in a few items of furniture or about 36 standard size cardboard boxes; and large enough to take in all your furnishings of a 4 or 5 bedroom home.

Many better self storage facilities have climate controlled units where you can safely store your items of furniture, as well as your expensive electronic equipment, art works, wax works, and musical instruments. These are temperature and humidity controlled and can be heated or cooled as required. Such units keep your possessions safe from damage that can be caused by the harsh weather, moisture, dust, mold, mildew, pests, and insects, among others.

Many facilities also have arrangements where you can park your cars, boats, RVs, as well as yachts.

The most difficult part is the packing and moving. This requires skill so that your precious possessions do not get damaged while being packed and transported to the storing facility.

Many self storage facilities offer extra packing and transporting services as well. All this comes at an extra price, but it is worth it. It saves you the chore of packing heavy items as well as lifting them onto the moving trucks. If you are not used to lifting heavy items, there is every chance you may hurt you back.

Before you realize it, all the furnishings of your home are appropriately packed, loaded onto the moving trucks, and transported to your storing unit at the self storage facility.
