Since being purchased by Standard Bank, Mustang Marine is well set to weather the current world-wide economic storm, and investment in research and development has led to the development of the new 430 Sports Coupandeacute; and also to extensions of the Mustang Sports Flybridge and Sports Cruiser ranges. The company uses state-of-the-art design and testing equipment, and its production facility includes 5 axis CNC milling. The shape and dimensions of each boat is perfected in their test tank, where the drive propulsion systems are also put through their paces. You can be certain that every boat has been designed, manufactured and tested to world class standards. This is not the second biggest boat maker in Australia for nothing!
Vessels of Mustangandrsquo;s standard require the best in everything: technology, materials and people. Since being bought over, many of the craftsmen who had left for other local companies have returned to Mustang, and the investment in experienced craftsmen such as the boat-builders, electricians, welders, plumber, joiners and electronics wizards needed to build boats such as these has not been lost. All of these undergo continuous training to keep their knowledge up with current standards and to ensure that the Mustang philosophy of andlsquo;right first timeandrsquo; is maintained. So how does the Mustang range now pan out? Well, the Sports Cruiser range includes 7 models ranging from the 2800 to the top of the range 4700. The 28 is an excellent family cruiser, designed for speed with its minimum 270 Hp Volvo duo-prop engine, housed in a soundproofed compartment. Towards the bow you will find a hand held shower and head to starboard, and a double bed to port, while the galley is fitted with an electric cooker and sink, and also a small fridge to keep the drinks cool!andnbsp; You also get a flat screen TV and DVD player, and full covers, clears and also a rear awning for when the sun gets a shade too hot. The boat comes with a battery charger, and the fridge runs off a generator. Thatandrsquo;s the basic model, but if you are really loaded you can go all the way up to the 4600 model that is a lot bigger, much more luxurious and offers just about anything anybody could want in a top class cruiser.andnbsp; We are talking twin 370 Horse Power Volvo D6 IPS 500 engines here, so this baby really flies. It has everything conceivable you could want, including the Volvo IPS docking and drive system, a Bose surround sound system, two double en suite staterooms, each with flat screen TV and DVD, and it also comes with GPS, Furuno auto pilot and radar.andnbsp; You also get hot and cold water, a cooker, a 75 liter fridge, wet bar, ice maker, drinks holder, stainless sink and a stainless barbecue grill. You sure wonandrsquo;t be stuck for entertainment or drinks on this baby. However, itandrsquo;s not this boat that is the favorite out west in Fremantle: they prefer the Sports Flybridge, if the $2 million in sales at the 2008 Fremantle Boating Festival is anything to go by.
Taking the 43 model as an example, this features an aft galley, with an electric cooker, dishwasher and microwave oven. You also get the air conditioning that is so essential in this part of the country, and a Genset generator. This model is available in a two or three cabin configuration: the choice is yours.andnbsp; The flybridge is fitted with speakers, a sink with hot and cold water, seating, a moulded station console and a reverse sloping deflector screen. The staterooms sleep two each, and there is a separate pull-out bed in the cockpit along with a stereo AM/FM CD player, an LCD TV and a DVD player. Donandrsquo;t forget the timber dining table and the leather wrap-round lounge. Itandrsquo;s not hard to see why they like this boat in Fremantle!
But how about the new Mustang 430 Sports Coupandeacute;? This is a wonderful boat to look at if the model is anything to go by. The specifications and appointments are under wraps at the moment, since the boat is not due to be launched until December, 2008. However, what we do know is that it will continue with the Volvo IPS engines and drives, and joystick docking system: the boat will use the IPS 600 engine as standard, and thatandrsquo;s a lot of Horse Power at 418 each.andnbsp; The philosophy behind this nippy boat is to have the helm, lounge, galley and cockpit on one deck, with the staterooms and bathrooms below. It will offer a wet bar, large swim platform, barbecue, directors chairs and the option of two or three cabins sleeping up to eight people.
This is the first brand new product to be released since the takeover, and demonstrates that Mustang Marine are back in business with a vengeance
