Mankind has always been making progress in science and technology in a bid to make life more comfortable. Machines minimize human efforts in performing tasks. However in this evolving industry, as a new product comes out, its outdated counterpart becomes obsolete in a few years time. These outdated, older goods have to be disposed of safely as without the right e-waste disposal methods, personal health and environmental problems are created. This is because e-waste has a considerable amount of hazardous waste in them like lead, cadmium and mercury. As it is, improper e-waste disposal has lead to irreparable damage to the hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere. The burning of e-waste like soldered material and plastic components in open areas has lead to the release of toxic gases to the environment. The problem here is that since these components are imperishable, they are threatening to the soil fertility. Moreover, the release of all this toxic waste and materials into rivers and oceans pose a danger to aquatic life.Instead of letting all this happen, if recycling is carried out using the right methods, it works out to become an effective employment generator especially to people in developing countries. Recycling plants require people to handle and carry out the proper recycling of e-waste. Disposal of computers, TVs and other electronics increase rapidly. Cathode Ray Tube in computer monitors and televisions are the most problematic disposal components of these Electronics. The high lead content is hazardous to the environment; proper disposal therefore is mandatory to protect our environment. It has lots of valuable materials in them like gold, silicon and palladium that bring in lots of money. However the challenge lies in using the right environmental regulations so that the workers are minimally exposed to environmental hazards.Another important part of efficient recycling lies in reusing the existing waste. Usually, most of these items are in reusable condition and thus should be reused. This helps reduce production costs to a manufacturer, and in the process, leads to greater profits. It is a matter that should be taken up seriously because it is a global matter that affects everyone in the world. Strict laws should be implemented in all countries to eradicate improper methods. Besides this, social awareness programs should be started by the government to help people understand about the ill effects of improper recycling. Moreover, we all must understand that improving proper recycling system we can reduce corporate environmental liabilities as well as the impact of technology on our fragile planet.
