Blogging has been popular since the early 2000's when Xanga, Myspace, and even Blogger (or what is now Blogspot) came into existence. People blog whether to get out their frustrations, let others know about what's going on within their lives, or mainly just to inform people about what's going on. Most people even use their blogs to make money for themselves by joining affiliate programs and choosing offers that relate to their general subject.

A general rule of thumb mainly to increase your affiliate earnings or to even start cashing in on your blog is to make sure that the offer(s) pertain to what the subject focus is about. You wouldn't want to be talking about fashion and then try to promote a home business offer as opposed to maybe PacSun or Macy's. It wouldn't work because it's not related to fashion in any way, and your traffic is mostly geared towards fashion then towards the home business offer.

Another way to increase your earnings with your blog would be to consider advertising on sites such as Facebook, 7Search, or the most popular which is indeed Google. Yes PPC advertising is the way to go if you want faster results. If you're just getting started, it will all seem complicated because of the different techniques and methods used to getting the best keywords at a really low cost.

If you are however getting fairly decent traffic (at least around 3,000 unique visitors a month) try to get into advertising revenue from other companies. The way you make money is basically on autopilot because you're getting a set amount per 1,000 views, or what's usually called CPM – cost per thousand (the M is the Roman Numeric for 1,000). This is one of the easiest and one of the most popular ways to make money and not really have to keep up with ads or even sign up to different networks. All you have to do is really just keep up with your traffic and make sure to have new content every so often.

These aren't however the only ways to go about increasing your advertising earnings. There are actually hundreds of ways and some that aren't even discovered yet, though the ones that are listed are the more popular and faster ways to go about it.
