Help With Theming Corporate Events

Let me tell you that I have definitely been to my fair share of corporate events over the past three decades since I graduated with my degree in marketing, and with the exception of a couple of them most have been fairly memorable. However; it was the last event that I had the pleasure of attending that truly was over the top.

Of course it was themed as are so many these days, but it was the way that it was themed that I will never forget. You see the theme was Rio Carnival, and let me tell you they really went all out to pull out all the stops to not only look as though you were at carnival, but to actually feel it as well. The bar area though was out of this world, and it was just jam packed with folks having the time of their lives because there was just no way that you could stand, or sit in it and not be thoroughly entertained. The laughter and revelry just filled the air and the tropical drinks that they were pouring to fit the Carnival theme were potent and delicious

Anyway I just had to meet the mastermind behind the event and find out how they came up with all the amazing props, and also how on earth they conjured up the lighting scheme. The sounds, the lights, the amazing 3-D props. Virtually everything melded together perfectly, and I simply had to know how they cooked it all up. Of course I expected the mastermind behind it all to be some type of creative genius extrovert, so you can imagine my surprise when the hand I ended up shaking was attached to a gray haired, 60 something year old woman who was in fact the head of the marketing departments mother, and in fact knew very little about how it all was put together.

It turned out that her son had ended up with the task of putting together the events for the last five years because no one else wanted to do it. The problem was that the previous two people who had handled the task ended up not doing such a great job which it was felt had jinxed them because they were no longer with the company.

So what was it that this quiet, matronly woman who doesn't even drink so much as an occasional glass of wine did differently that resulted in this event being such a resounding success such that it was? What she did was hire the job out to a professional consulting firm that specializes in designing, and creating themed corporate events.

She never lifted a finger other than to dial a telephone, and she had a broad list of themes to select from. The service provided everything down to the smallest details like the Rio Carnival style cups, napkins, swizzle sticks and festive drink garnishes at the bar. Also because virtually all the 3-D props and lighting was rented, so it all was done with the lowest budget of any previous event put on by the company.
