Becoming a noise enforcement officer



Irritating noise in your neighbourhood such as construction sites, entertainment noise, manufacturing or disruption on the street can cause an annoyance and stress to the people living in that community.

It can also at extreme volumes cause damage to hearing if the noise is coming from a source close to your home such as the home next to your own. However the neighbourhood and communities do not have to suffer under these circumstances as there are law enforced regulations to any noise related legislation.

This is where the role of a noise enforcement officer comes in. The purpose of the enforcement imposed is to initially make sure that the problem and source of the problem is dealt with and any other problems surrounding the same issue. They will also take action on the business s or individuals causing the problem which may later lead to the presence of the named offenders in court if the situation cannot be dealt.

The main duties of the noise enforcement officer will be to investigate any complaints relating to the noise, visiting the complainants and perpetrators, attending court if required as a witness,
Also serving abatement notices and preparing important schedules may be necessary.

Of course to apply for a position in this job role, the knowledge and skills that are needed may mean that you will need previous experience in this area and as there is a lot of movement within the position you may also need to hold a full driving license as a council driving test for provided vehicles will be possible required.

The role also means that the working hours will be patterned into shifts and may fall into a weekend so please be aware of this before you apply.
