When Bill, a retired Marine, and his wife decided to buy a foreclosure property in the Lone Star State, they had general suspicions of what they might be in for. They had done their research and knew that often foreclosed properties were full of significant repair work.

They knew they would be taking a gamble that the restoration of the property, although lengthy and expensive would pay dividends for them in the end. Bill had worked in intensive maintenance and construction service while with the Marines and was not intimidated by those problems which other home buyers would consider dangerous or scary.

He had many connections with maintenance workers and suppliers all throughout the state. He knew which Texas scaffolding company to contact should he be in need of that type of supply. Texas coatings, should he be in need of water seal or flooring services were also provided by this company. While Bill's contacts were skilled in the commercial arena, he knew his friends could advice him as he cleaned and restored his residential property.

As Bill and his wife took possession of their newly purchased property, they were very busy immediately. They eagerly began to lovingly restore the once grand mansion, constructed way back in 1910. Bill began using his years of maintenance experience to identify and fix many issues which are common in older, poorly cared for homes. The structural integrity of the house was assessed and all concerns were addressed.

Hardwood floors were sanded and refinished, as well as banisters and built ins and cabinetry. Bill's wife was in charge of selecting all paint colors and worked hard to choose colors consistent with the era of the home. Both she and Bill realized that due to the run down condition of the home and the period of time in which it was constructed that it was important to hire a company to assess the existing wall paint to see if it was comprised of a lead base. They both knew that this was a distinct possibility and they were willing to do whatever it took to remove all the old lead base paint materials.

At the same time, Bill was planning to re-insulate the attic space and had some concerns about the possibility of asbestos. Bill understood what basic precautions were needed in the removal of asbestos but preferred to leave the actual removal to a professional company skilled and trained in the area of asbestos. Bill and his wife found a company who could preform both the lead based paint removal project as well as the asbestos removal job. They were very pleased with the results and felt the expense of the service was well worth it. They continued on with other restoration and decoration projects and in just one year's time they had a beautiful place to call home.

Bill and his wife had the experience necessary for such a huge project. They also knew what projects they were capable of completing and which projects would be better left for the professionals. If you are considering restoring an aged property or purchasing a home which has been uninhabited for any length of time or which has gone through the foreclosure process, be sure to do your research. Analyze the cost, your motives, and your goals. Should you determine this type of project is up your alley be prepared and don't hesitate to hire the best services available in your area.
