The cabin space of a truck is normally limited and it is not easy to handle a dog in the cabin while driving. The most possible solution is to fix the dog box in the bed of the truck and then securely deport the pet in that box. Following is a simple procedure for building a good and strong dog box.

The very first thing that is needed to be done is to select the design for the box. The design depends on the size of the dog and the space that is available in the truck bed. The box must occupy a minimum space but at the same time, it should also be comfortable for the pet inside. The average size of the box should be 22 high, 39 long and 24 wide. As the resources of the design are concerned, a lot of opinions are available like television, internet, magazines, movies and many more.

When a suitable design has been selected, the next step is to choose the building material. Aluminum is a good choice because it has a light weight. Other metals and hard plastic are also considered to be good. If wood is to be used then it should be weather resistant. The chosen building material should be cut into six pieces depending on the dimensions.

The box must have proper ventilation. Small holes should be made on the two sides of the box. Holes should not be made on the top or bottom of the box otherwise water can enter inside. Once the holes have been made, the edges should be sanded to avoid injuries to the pet. There should be a door for the safe entry and exit of the pet on one side of the dog box.

Assembling the unit is the next step. Weld or bolts have to be used to put together the parts. It has to be ensured that the door is properly attached to the box and it easily opens to allow the dog to come out. After assembling the box, the exterior should be sanded and painted with fresh coat. The dog box is to be installed on the truck bed using bolts. After that, the interiors should be made comfortable for the pet.

The dog box has to be tested without the pet; it must not shift or move even on a rough road. It must be well-ventilated and cozy. The interiors should be inspected carefully and it should be completely secure and safe.
