A fleeting account of Mercedes-Benz with some of their most famous models

Article Written By: leroybatard

Add Your Picture From their beginnings in 1886 Mercedes-Benz have built world-renowned cars which have relied upon amazingly engineered machines and technology. Although the firm had the primary patent on a petrol-based engine which was used in stage coaches, it was only in 1901 when the company offered its first automobile and it was 27 years later when the firm changed its name to Mercedes-Benz.

From then on, the firm has become synonymous with advanced design, technology and safety features making many of the firm's cars one some of the most desirable on the planet.

These alterations have revolutionised the template for new modelled motors and feature the inner combustion engine, the honeycomb radiator, the float carburettor, the "drop chassis", 4-wheel braking and crumple zones for improved safety during a crash. All these unique aspects have become the guideline all other vehicles are based upon.

The Mercedes-Benz SSK was the first motor engineered, coming as it did in 1928, which was a vehicle able to reach top speeds of up to 120 miles per hour and was for a period the fastest car in the world. The speed was the main reason it was the highest ranked sporting motor of its era.

The company's next major success was the Mercedes-Benz 260 D which came off the production line in 1936 making it only the second car to have been created with a diesel engine.

The 1950s gave the firm a great deal of triumph thanks to the launch of the Mercedes-Benz Type 300, this was the fifties answer to the modern day S-Class motor car. It was powerful, elegant and exclusive.

The company then revealed the C-Class make in the 1990s something which evolved into the C-Class Sportcoupe, the CLC-Class, CLK-Class as well as the E-class Coupe.

All of these ranges contributed to an illustrious history for the firm marketing a brand identification for its clients. Going through the years it has been consistently noted that they make excellent automobiles for which they have been commended many times.

Even though they had success in the 1950s, it was to be four decades later when properly took to Formula One. During the 2009 season Ross Brawn's brand new Formula One team, Brawn GP won the Formula One constructor's championship while using Mercedes engines. Due to this success Brawn GP was then renamed Mercedes GP for the 2010 season.

Preserving with the business' progressive viewpoint, Mercedes have started to act in the non-diesel field and since 2007 they have produced a few low carbon models. Of these vehicles, the F700 concept car was revealed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and as of two years later the S400 Blue HYBRID and Blue ZERO were both available. These cars offer a respectable 74 grams of CO2 emissions, ensuring they are superb for environmentally-friendly drivers who are in the market for a Mercedes-Benz leasing deal.

As the low-emission cars are growing into a modern acceptance the business is very strongly looking into producing Elektrobay recharging units that are currently being installed in various locations throughout the UK.
