Projectors & Projector Screens-Information that you need to know?
There are two types of projectors which are DLP Projectors and LCD Projectors. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of owning a DLP Projector is not having to change a dust filter that the LCD Projector has. The color images appear to be a little darker on a DLP Projector although there is no big difference in quality in our opinion. Video projectors is a term used for projectors that are equipped with XGA Resolution 1024x768 or higher. The term video projector can be used for the definition of any projector.
Projector screens come in several different types:
Electric Screens: Screens that can be controlled by remote control or by an electronic wall switch.
Manual Screens: Screens that are manually pulled up and down by a pull cord.
Tripod Screens: These screens are portable and have three legs that can be engaged and disengaged for easy and convenient setup.
Fixed Screens: These screens are fixed wall screens that you can hang on the wall. These screens are commonly used in the home theater screen arena.
Home Theater Screens: Typically home theater screens can be electric, manual or fixed wall. The aspect ratio on a home theater screen is 16:9 which a rectangle shape is. The 4:3 aspect ratio screens are used a lot in the business arena which is more like a square shape.
Fast Fold Screens: Portable screen mattes that are attached to a metal frame that can be set up with more stability than tripod screens.
Theater Screens: These screens come in a floor mounted case that are pulled upward and are attached to a rod. These screens are great for business presentations.
Recessed Screens: This type of screen is an electric screen that is embedded in a ceiling and is hidden behind doors that open and close.

Before you buy a screen for your home theater be sure to put your projector through a projection calculator and measure the distance that your projector will be away from the screen. Be sure to put in the correct aspect ratio for example 16:9. For example a 45andrdquo; x 80andrdquo; screen is 45andrdquo; high by 80andrdquo; wide. The diagonal measurement will be 92andrdquo; which means the measurement from corner to corner of this screen. Your projectorandrsquo;s throw distance capabilities will determine the size of your screen based on how much distance that you have to work with. There are many different types of screens that include manual, electric, fixed. The most common aspect ratio's are 4:3 and 16:9. Manufacturers include Da-Lite, Draper and Elite. Electric screens can be operated with a remote or wired to a 3-way switch. Manual screens are pulled down by hand and fixed screens are hung flat on a wall surface. Recessed screens are mounted inside the ceiling space and come out electronically through doors that are flush with the ceiling. Tripod screens are portable screens that can be easily transported from one place to another. Portable movie screens have cases that hold the screen and are pulled up from the floor. Outdoor movie screens are usually inflatable screens that are setup with an air compressor. Screens come in many different sizes that range for 40andquot; x 40andquot; all the way up to 24' x 24'. Fast fold screens come with a metal frame and a frame surface that snaps to the frame.
