Nicole Snooki Polizzi was born in New York where a close knit Italian family adopted her. She was extremely popular during her high school years and threw herself into many activities. Things began falling apart for the teen when she developed a serious eating disorder, but she has now overcome the problem. Nicole debuted in MTV's reality program Jersey Shore. The series placed the New York native on a whirlwind of fame and controversy quickly followed. People who have watched the series found themselves loving and hating the house mate's many antics.

She had her first taste of fame when Jersey Shore debuted on MTV during the latter part of 2009. Similar to the network's other endeavor, The Real World; Jersey Shore followed eight housemates as they enjoyed a summer along the shores of New Jersey. The group worked and played as cameras kept track of their daily activities. MTV's program was condemned for their stereotyping of young Italian Americans and the bad reputation that was being generated for those who were from the region. The show became an instant success and critics were horrified.

Every episode of the hit show portrayed Snooki as a boozing party girl who partied the whole day through. A man even punched the young woman in the face during a bar confrontation. The network showed the scene only a few times and pulled it after it caused a stir. However, the fight is still played quite often on the internet.

The last few years have been a whirlwind of activity for Nicole and she is trying to devote more time to finding the right man. When not doing that she enjoys working out and shopping. Miss Polizzi is also working on a veterinarian technology degree. There have been tons of controversial issues surrounding both Snooki and the program. Residents of the Jersey shore region did not appreciate the way their young people were portrayed and hated the lack of morals that the cast had. Their anger intensified upon finding out that the cast was not from the area.

Miss Polizzi has had her own problems and one of them has been a battle with alcohol. Those close to her have long worried about her excessive drinking and nightly escapades. She was even caught selling alcohol to an underage teen that was later killed in a drunk driving mishap.

Snooki will be returning to the program, which is set to begin during the summer of 2010. The new season will be set on the shores of South Beach, Florida. Fans are sure to be fascinated by the happenings of all the cast mates, and it is likely that critics will once again be appalled.
