There is a lot of buzz on the Internet today about Articles Marketing. Is it just marketing hype or is it a viable promotion and traffic tool? The simple answer is yes and yes. Article marketing is a viable promotion tool and I personally think it's one of the best tools a home business marketer has today. I'll try to answer this question as simply as possible as the complexity of article marketing is a considerable task.

On the Internet no traffic means no business. It's a plain fact. You can't have an Internet business without a steady flow of viewers to your site. Furthermore they have to be targeted visitors as well. You can accomplish both areas with one process. In order for you to begin getting traffic to your website you need to create a sense of subject authority about your given niche or subject matter. Writing articles is one very important way to communicate to others your expertise on your niche.

Distribution of an article is key to your success. So what is the fastest way to accomplish this? The answer is Article Directories. They all do share in one common characteristic though, they are there to provide content for other websites. You see webmasters use them for content filler on their sites, because subject matter content is very important to Search Engine Ranking. The even better part is that when someone selects your article to publish on their site your article now becomes viral.

Syndicating your articles is a powerful tool that really doesn't cost that much to do. It does require time and effort though to get going but it's entirely worth your effort.

I was amazed at my first test of article writing a few years ago. I wrote a couple of articles on some internet marketing topics that discussed the issue of getting traffic to your website. I distributed them and I was totally flabbergasted at the results. I could not believe how quickly these articles, about 500 words each, spread. Additionally, I really didn't spend a lot of time distributing them either.

Writing articles accomplishes two distinct marketing tactics, free viral advertising for a product and authoritative status for the writer. The first tactic happens literally overnight, the second takes time to build. There are many familiar faces on the Internet associated with a product or a service that we have come to know. In years past the only way to accomplish this was to have a big advertising budget or a very large affiliate base selling your products. Today, with article writing, you can accomplish both easily.

The ability to reach an international audience has been the purview of major corporations , in years past. The Internet has changed all of that and brought it down to the level of the small business owner.

There really isn't a better way to market your products or thoughts. With all this being said what are the drawbacks to writing and distributing articles on the Internet? We can examine those as well.

In order to be successful at article marketing you need to write more than one article. It sounds so simplistic yet many people write one article and distribute it and expect that they will receive thousands of back-links and traffic to their sites. This is not the case by a long shot. In order to be successful you need consistency and good content. If you maintain a regular schedule of writing and submitting your articles your chances for success rate will be very high.

The biggest drawback to article marketing is the submission process, it's tedious and boring. Each time you submit an article to a directory you have to input the same information over and over such as title, author, body-text, summary box and author's bio box. It's a pain but it has to be done, otherwise you don't get any back-links.
